Grace Kang has great passion when it comes to retail as well as 10 years of buying and consulting experience in the fashion industry. After graduating from Cornell University, she started her career as an assistant buyer for Bloomingdale’s and quickly moved up the corporate ladder. As a buyer for contemporary sportswear, she received a number of awards including “Buyer of the Year” for two consecutive years. Following her seven year stint at Bloomingdale’s, Grace was called to launch saks.com with a complete new buying team. Although e-commerce was new for Grace, she was able to incorporate all of her buying skills and took their handbag & shoe business to the next level.
Grace’s most recent accomplishment before launching Pink Olive was becoming a buyer for one of the most prestigious stores in the country – Barney’s New York. Working with some of the most talented, creative people in the industry allowed her to think outside the box and excel in fashion in both the business and creative sense of the word. Taste, luxury and humor best exemplified the culture at Barney’s and she was able to take their premium denim business to an unprecedented level with double digit increases. In partnering with her boss, CEO and the stores, she was able to fully maximize each opportunity and catered to the needs of each market. Grace has always approached each job as if they were her own, and she can do the same for you.
With extensive and invaluable knowledge about retail, Grace was finally equipped to open her own boutique in 2007. With the inspiration of her niece Katie, Pink Olive finally became reality - a dream come true. From the day she found and signed her lease in Manhattan, Grace was able to open her store in 30 days. Discover her secrets and make your dream a reality.
